Before the end of 2020, Congress convened and passed legislation creating an additional round of COVID-19 stimulus payments. Those payments are exempt from garnishment, levy and attachment by operation of law. Meanwhile, Virginia previously passed legislation exempting the first round of stimulus payments and any future COVID-19 related stimulus payments from creditor process.
