Current Events |
- On October 8, 2009 Richard Knee was a presenter for the topics of
Virginia Non-judicial Foreclosure Procedure and Ethical Considerations
in Foreclosure at the National Business Institute (NBI) sponsored
seminar on Legal Issues in Real Estate Foreclosure. This seminar was
attended by attorneys specializing in creditors' rights law.
- Richard Glasser has been selected for inclusion in the 2010
edition of The Best Lawyers in America in the specialty of Personal
Injury Litigation. Mr. Glasser is now in a distinguished group of
attorneys who have been listed in the Best Lawyers for twenty years or
longer.
- Michael Glasser was elected a Virginia State Bar representative to
the American Bar Association's House of Delegates to serve a two year
term commencing in August, 2009. The ABA's House of Delegates is the
legislative body for the American Bar Association, which represents
the membership of approximately 400,000 lawyers throughout the United
States.
- Creditors' Rights attorney Tim Spaulding has been hired as an
adjunct faculty member at Liberty University School of Law in Lynchburg, VA
where he will be teaching a course in Bankruptcy law this fall.
Attorney Spaulding has recently relocated from Hampton Roads to
Lynchburg, VA where he now handles some of Glasser and Glasser's
legal work in Southwestern Virginia.
- Karen M. Zello, who was previously the Treasurer of the Hampton
Roads Chapter of the Virginia Women Attorneys Association (VWAA), is
now the President of the Chapter for the fiscal year starting
on July 1, 2009 to June 30, 2010.
- Michael Glasser served as moderator of a panel of attorneys across
Virginia conducting a continuing legal education qualified seminar
entitled: "Avoiding Foreclosure in 2009 ". The seminar addressed the
foreclosure process in Virginia, the tax aspects of cancellation of
debt, bankruptcy issues, recent legislative efforts to enact cramdown
authority in the bankruptcy code, loan modifications, forbearance
agreements, short sales, and deeds in lieu of foreclosure.
- Glasser and Glasser, P.L.C. honored by Harvest Strategy Group
Legal Network "Firm of the Year -- Best in Class Liquidation Rate" at
National Association of Retail Collection Attorneys (NARCA) Spring
Conference held in Boston, Massachusetts on April 30 to May 1, 2009.
- Partner Mark K. Groves received the Collection Industry Service Award at
the National Association of Retail Collection Attorneys (NARCA)
Conference in October, 2008. Mr. Groves serves on the NARCA Educational
and Governmental affairs committees and will serve as Conference Chair
of the 2010 Spring Conference in Washington, D.C.

In January 2009, the leading newspaper in southeastern Virginia (The
Virginian Pilot) ran a three part series of articles on the impact
of the mortgage and credit crisis. Glasser and Glasser, P.L.C., a
leading Virginia law firm involved in the resolution of mortgage
problems, along with other leading area businesses, were referenced
in the series of articles.

Glasser and Glasser, P.L.C. has been named a LPSFS Attorney
Performance Report (APR) Performance Recognition Winner for Q2
2008.
The award is given out by LPS Foreclosure Solutions, Inc. (LPSFS)
a division of Lender Processing Services in Jacksonville,
Florida. Each quarter LPSFS recognizes firms who have maintained
a comparable to best in state status for the quarter in
foreclosure. What this means is that for the second quarter of
2008 Glasser and Glasser, P.L.C. was among the select few law
firms in Virginia who maintained the highest standard of
excellence in serving their clients in foreclosure as part of
the Fidelity network. The firm takes pride in the award and
looks forward for more to come.
